29 June – 1 July, international events organised by the Pan-European Regional Council (PERC) of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) brought together trade union leaders and experts from across Europe and Central Asia in Yerevan, Armenia. The Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation (LPSK) was represented by its Acting President, Dalia Jakutavičė.

The first day featured a policy workshop focusing on the challenges of deploying artificial intelligence in the workplace. Discussions explored the impact of AI technologies on occupational safety and health, the physical and psychosocial risks associated with the introduction of new technologies, and the measures needed to ensure adequate protection for workers.

The workshop also highlighted international and national experiences demonstrating how trade unions can contribute to the safe and responsible implementation of artificial intelligence in the workplace.

The subsequent PERC Summer School focused on global labour market developments, technological transformation, strengthening social dialogue, and the role of trade unions in protecting workers’ rights. Participants discussed current developments within the International Labour Organization (ILO), the impact of technological change on labour relations, ways to strengthen collective bargaining, and preparations for future challenges.

The second day of the Summer School was dedicated to preparations for the upcoming International Trade Union Confederation Congress. Discussions covered regional priorities, proposed constitutional amendments, the election process for the organisation’s statutory bodies, and trade union strategies aimed at promoting peace, resilience, and decent work.

These international events provided an important opportunity to exchange experiences with trade union representatives from different countries, discuss common challenges, and explore solutions to ensure that rapid technological transformation takes place while safeguarding workers’ rights, strengthening social dialogue, and promoting decent work.
