In Berlin trade union representatives examined issues of migrant’s integration

On 24–25 February, an international seminar “Supporting Migrants’ integration into the Labour Market” was held in Berlin, dedicated to the issues of migrant inclusion and protection of their rights. The event was organised by the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) together with the German partners.

The seminar discussed the context of migration and labour market integration policy at the European Union (EU) level, presented national experiences, examined the role of trade unions in protecting migrants’ rights, the principles of fair employment and the fight against forced labour and exploitation. Representatives of the European Commission (EC), international organisations, national trade unions and expert institutions participated in the discussions.

The Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation was represented at the event by Birutė Daškevičienė, the President of the Achema Workers’ Trade Union, who is a member of ETUC committees. She participated in the discussions, which formed common trade union positions on migration, protection of labour rights and a fair labour market.

This meeting strengthened international cooperation between trade unions and provided an opportunity to share good practices in order to more effectively protect the rights of migrant workers and create an inclusive and socially fair labor market across Europe.
