Dalia Jakutavičė Elected as Interim President of Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation

Today, on May 22, an extraordinary meeting of the Council of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation (LPSK) took place.

During the meeting, following the resignation of the previous interim head Audrius Gelžinis, Council members elected a new interim leader of LPSK.

By a majority vote (31 in favor, 27 against), Dalia Jakutavičė was elected interim chairwoman of the organization. The Council also appointed a deputy chairperson – Artūras Černiauskas was entrusted with this role.

Dalia Jakutavičė is the head of the Lithuanian Federation of Industrial Trade Unions, a member of the Labour Disputes Commission under the State Labour Inspectorate of the Republic of Lithuania, and a member of the Tripartite Council of the Republic of Lithuania.

She holds a law degree with a specialization in public administration from Kolping College. Jakutavičė has over 10 years of experience in employee representation, mediation, labor dispute resolution, corporate strategic planning and management, risk management, human resources, and legislative work. She is also a board member of the electricity distribution company “Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius,” serving from February 14, 2023, until February 13, 2026.

Meanwhile, Artūras Černiauskas, appointed as LPSK’s interim deputy, is the chairman of the Lithuanian Railway Workers’ Trade Union Association, deputy chairman of the Lithuanian Furniture and Woodworking Workers’ Trade Union, an advisor to the Lithuanian Law Enforcement Officers’ Trade Union, and a member of the Tripartite Council of the Republic of Lithuania.

Černiauskas has extensive leadership experience within LPSK, having served as its chairman from 2005 to 2018. During his leadership, LPSK actively participated in the Tripartite Council, proposed amendments to the Labour Code, and advocated for wage increases and the strengthening of social guarantees.

Dalia Jakutavičė and Artūras Černiauskas will serve in their respective roles until the regular LPSK congress in May 2026.
