On October 27, following the second round of parliamentary elections, the Lithuanian parliament was formed. Lithuanian Social Democratic Party received the biggest support and and won 52 seats. Among the elected members of the Seimas is Inga Ruginienė, the President of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation (LPSK). After she takes the oath in the Seimas (around mid-November), her term as the head of LPSK will end.
The LPSK council will decide on an interim leader on December 6, and they will also set a date for an extraordinary congress, where a new LPSK chairperson will be elected for a four-year term.
Once I. Ruginienė’s term ends, the organization will be temporarily led by her current deputy, Audrius Gelžinis, until the LPSK council meeting.
