The 7th Congress of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation is around the corner! The event will be held tomorrow in ‘Crowne Plaza Vilnius’ (M. K. Čiurlionio str. 84). It starts at 9.30 am.
This Congress is special: the 20th anniversary of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation also will be celebrated. In the first part of the event, internal discussions and elections will be held, and changes to core documents of the organization will be adopted. The afternoon of the 6th of May will be dedicated to festivities: congratulatory speeches by local and foreign guests, awards to the most meritorious members of the LPSK and the short history of the organization will be presented. Also, a musical performance is planned.
“We are happy to welcome all delegates and guests who decided to mark this important milestone of our organization. We see every Congress as a possibility to re-think our priorities and aims and to adjust to the rapidly changing world better. However, this Congress gives us a unique opportunity to see ourselves, and trade unions in general, in a broader context. In 20 years changed a lot. We, as an organization, overcame many boundaries, learned from other trade unions and grew our influence consistently. But today it is time to think about how we are going to work in the coming decades”, says Inga Ruginienė, the president of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation.
“The message of our Congress is about building bridges for dialogue. We strongly believe that for current large challenges we need dialogues to gather knowledge, strengthen communities and cooperation between different groups. Social dialogue is crucial for synergies in the world of work, especially, when we are facing the twin transition. Together we have to step up our efforts and create stable quality employment with decent working conditions, adequate social protection and competitive high value-added economy”, tells I. Ruginienė.
